Maura Higgins earns first nine of the season on week four of Dancing With The Stars


A reality star exited Dancing With The Stars during a shock elimination amid week four of the ABC competition series. 

Celebrities and their professional dance partners took to the stage for Mariah Carey night, which saw Irish TV personality Maura Higgins raking in a nine for her score, and the first of the season thus far. 

Summer House star Ciara Miller and her partner Brian Armstrong were eliminated at the end of the episode after the pair opened the show with an energetic jazz routine.

The pair showcased their dance skills to Carey’s hit track Emotions in a classroom set on the dance floor. 

Miller was ready to land higher scores this week, with judge Derek Hough applauding the duo’s opening performance by labeling it ‘a great way to start the show.’ 

After heading upstairs, Miller and Armstrong received their scores from the judges, landing 21/30 upon receiving three sevens.

When all the votes were in, Miller and Armstrong had been one of the last remaining three couples awaiting their fate on the show. 

However, it was soon announced that the duo would not be making it through to the next week. 

Miller expressed that she was ‘so grateful’ for her dance partner during her time on the series, and called the experience a ‘moment of a lifetime.’ 

Armstrong also added, ‘Look, I think this competition really is about a journey. I’m super bummed because I think Ciara was one of those people getting better every single week, and I think it was noticeable. 

‘I think it was cut short, which is a bummer. But a lot of great competitors left, and I loved every second I had with her.’

Fans jumped to X to share their thoughts upon learning of the elimination as one penned, ‘storming the ABC headquarters as we speak for ciara miller!!!!!’

Another wrote, ‘CIARA MILLER YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS TO ME,’ and one added, ‘CIARA MILLER I WILL AVENGE YOU.’

The duo took to the stage in matching red ensembles as Carey’s song It’s Like That played in the background. 

The performance was positively critiqued from the trio of judges, with Carrie Ann Inaba saying it was ‘masterful and beautiful.’ 

Hough told the actor that he liked to see he ‘took chances’ when it came to some of the moves.

The TV personality offered an energetic performance to the song. 

However, the judges agreed that while his moves were not exactly that of a samba, it was ‘still a lot of fun’ to watch. 

Inaba also told Rodriguez to not ‘dim your light’ before the scores were given. 

After making their to the sky box, the judges gave Rodriguez and Carson a score of 13/30. 

Jackson Olson and Emma Slater were next on the stage for a waltz to the song Without You. 

Olson, who also celebrated his birthday this week, received praise from the judges. 

Both Inaba and Hough gushed that the baseball player’s performance was ‘well done.’

Hough told Ali that he could see she is ‘blossoming’ on the stage, while Inaba noted she ‘could hit the moves a little harder’ in the future. 

The actress also expressed that being able to dance on the competition show has been ‘liberating’ for her. 

Ali and Ravnik received a score of 20/30 from the judges.

Following the energetic dance routine, Hough told Wood that he is ‘stepping into that leading man’ on the stage. 

The duo garnered 19/30 as their performance score.
