FA Cup third-round: Live scores, team news and updates as Brighton come from behind at

National League Eastleigh have taken League Two side Newport County to a replay despite being reduced to 10 men at Rodney Parade.

George Langston was dismissed late in the first-half for an elbow and Newport took the lead through James Clarke.

However, Eastleigh won a penalty and Chris Maguire thumped it home to take the teams back to Hampshire.

A third round thriller at the Bet365 Stadium as Premier League Brighton survived a Stoke scare to advance.

The Championship side led through Jan Paul van Hecke’s own goal before Pervis Estupinan and Lewis Dunk put Brighton in front early in the second-half.

But Stoke’s Lewis Baker levelled from a spot-kick, only for Joao Pedro’s late double to successfully steer Brighton through.

It’s agony for Chesterfield! They led for ages but Tom Dele-Bashiru has scored for Watford deep into stoppage time, a calm low finish into stoppage time.

Watford seem to have got away with it.

Tremendous fighting spirit by non-league Eastleigh who earn a replay with 10 men.

Very straightforward in the end for the Blades, who coast into the fourth round with four goals. Two apiece for William Osula and James McAtee in a Priestfield romp..

Just in the nick of time and Hull have levelled, potentially forcing a replay. Matty Jacob slamming a shot into the roof of the net after the keeper couldn’t grasp it.

That will probably do it for Brighton as well. They’ve had a scare at Stoke today but now have their fourth and it’s Joao Pedro again.

Van Hecke gets a bit of redemption from his earlier own goal by supplying the pass for Joao Pedro to round it all off.

That should also be Sheffield United’s passage into the fourth round sealed as Man City loanee James McAtee makes it 3-0.

And that’s that at Ewood Park too as Harry Leonard’s header makes it five for Blackburn.

It was over anyway but it definitely is now as Che Adams makes it four for the Saints.

Incredible scenes at Rodney Parade as non-league Eastleigh, who only have 10 men, equalise against Newport!

Our first goal of the afternoon came at St Mary’s when Ryan Fraser slotted home – that’s the only goal there so far.

A bit of a cruise so far for Premier League strugglers at Gillingham, with two goals by William Osula putting them in firm control at Priestfield.

National League Chesterfield a goal ahead thanks to a free header by Joe Quigley on 28 minutes. They’re good value for the lead too.

All-square at Carrow Road – Norwich took the lead through Ashley Barnes, only for Gavin Ward to level for Rovers not too long afterwards. All to play for.

What an amazing first half at Ewood and what a half for Sammie Szmodics, who completes his hat-trick!

Don’t think I’m neglecting the Newport vs Eastleigh and QPR vs Bournemouth ties but there’s been a flurry of goals elsewhere and those two remain goalless.

Goodness me, do we have another huge upset on the cards?

It’s Joe Quigley who fires National League leaders in front, a back post header when left totally unmarked by the Watford defenders from a right-side cross.

Absolute scenes at Ewood Park as the U’s re-take the lead just moments after that equaliser.

It’s Sullay Kaikai who scored it. He struck it nicely on the volley, into the ground, following a knockdown and it just flew in.

Simply no stopping Sammie Szmodics this season and he’s added another to his collection to pull Rovers back onto level terms.

Nice slick build-up by Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side and Szmodics finds the bottom corner with the aid of a deflection.

Birmingham seem to have moved beyond Wayne Rooney very quickly – they’ve taken the lead at Hull, a brilliant header by Lukas Jutkiewicz, arriving at the perfect moment into the box.

An early advantage for the Pilgrims against the League Two strugglers, with Luke Cundle, their Wolves loanee, breaking the deadlock at Home Park.

Norwich’s lead short-lived at Carrow Road – Grant Ward has pulled Rovers back to level terms.

One Premier League side behind though and it’s all their own doing – Jan Paul Van Hecke, the Seagulls defender, getting his feet in a right muddle, turning a cross past his own keeper.

Far from the most straightforward of third round ties for struggling Sheffield United but they’ve made the perfect start.

William Osula runs at the Gills defence, turns on the step-overs, then fires through the legs of the keeper from a tight angle.

The perfect start for Championship Norwich in a potentially tricky tie against Bristol Rovers as Ashley Barnes puts them into an early lead.

Onel Hernandez received the ball down the right, muscled his way into the Rovers box and squared for Barnes, who simply had to tap into an empty net.

The ideal start for Russell Martin’s side against lower league opposition in Walsall – Ryan Fraser with the low and hard finish into the bottom corner.

Could we be on course for an upset at Ewood Park? 1,600 travelling Cambridge fans going wild in the away end as Jack Lankester bends home a magnificent strike through a packed penalty area after Rovers simply couldn’t clear their lines.

This is what the FA Cup is all about… sixth-tier Maidstone have dumped out third-tier Stevenage to reach the fourth round!

That penalty by Sam Corne in first-half stoppage time split the teams at the Gallagher Stadium this lunchtime.

Every year around this time we do tend to see the FA Cup lose a little more of its lustre. Blanket TV coverage, Premier League big boys fielding weakened sides, the list goes on.

But the third round weekend nonetheless remains a favourite for many fans and Mail Sport’s Ian Herbert has been on a mission to explain why it still matters.

Maidstone United, of the sixth-tier National League South, made waves by knocking out League Two high-fliers Barrow in the second round.

And they could be about to take an even greater scalp as they lead League One Stevenage 1-0 at half-time in their early kick-off.

Sam Corne converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time to give the non-leaguers the lead.

Several third round ties are already underway this lunchtime and the most eye-catching is undoubtedly the Tyne-Wear derby between Sunderland and Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.

There’s never any love lost between those two and at half-time it’s Newcastle who lead 1-0 after Dan Ballard’s worst nightmare came true when he put through his own net.

The action is staggered right across the weekend but we have 10 ties to focus on kicking off at 3pm.

Three Premier League sides are playing, with Sheffield United making a tricky trip to Gillingham, Bournemouth away at Queens Park Rangers, and Brighton heading to Stoke.

We’ve also got non-league interest as National League promotion favourites Chesterfield travel to Championship Watford, while Eastleigh visit Newport County.

Various Championship clubs take the field, too, with Blackburn entertaining Cambridge United, Hull against Birmingham, Norwich at home to Bristol Rovers, Plymouth hosting Sutton, and Southampton up against Walsall.
