Horror as juvenile driver plows into crowd killing three and injuring five more

Three people have been killed and five more injured after a juvenile driver plowed into a crowd of people at an intersection in California

Horror unfolded after the as-yet unidentified motorist barreled down a road in East Oakland at around 11.15pm on Saturday.

The car collided with another parked vehicle before it mounted the sidewalk and hit a group of people outside of a store at the intersection of 85th Avenue and International Boulevard, law enforcement told the East Bay Times.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene while another five, including the suspected driver, were injured, Oakland Fire spokesperson Michael Hunt confirmed.

Of those injured, two were confirmed to be in critical condition while one other was seriously injured, according to Hunt. The condition of the other two remains unclear.

Cornelius Reed, who was at the scene when the crash occurred, told KTVU that the car rammed into another vehicle after hitting the crowd outside of the East Bay Market Liquor Store.

Reed said he tried to help those injured, who were some of his life-long friends, as the driver attempted to flee the scene.

Citizens, however, detained the suspected driver of the vehicle, which Reed said was a black SUV, before law enforcement arrived.

Oakland police said that the crash remains under investigation.

The Daily Mail reached out to the Oakland Fire Department and the Oakland Police Department for more information.
