Gwyneth Paltrow under fire for collaborating with convicted con artist for Goop Kitchen

Gwyneth Paltrow is facing fierce backlash for working with convicted felon and con artist Anna Delvey on a collaboration for her health-focused delivery restaurant Goop Kitchen.

The 35-year-old, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, is famously known for falsely posing as a wealthy heiress to gain social status and defrauding a series of banks, hotels and individuals out of $275,000

She was found guilty in 2019 and spent 19 months behind bars before being released in 2022 on house arrest in New York City, which requires her to wear an ankle monitor.

Delvey shamelessly poked fun at her house arrest in a video ad posted to Goop Kitchen’s official Instagram page on Saturday.

Her ankle monitor was front and center in the ad as she had Goop Kitchen’s ‘clean’ food delivered right to her apartment door.

Wearing a chic outfit with her hair and makeup perfectly done, Delvey opens the door and says to camera, ‘Can’t go out? Don’t be so dramatic,’ before slowly shutting it.

The post, which has received over 11,000 ‘likes,’ also featured the caption, ‘For when you d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ can’t leave the house.’

While some were amused by Delvey’s shock cameo, many of Paltrow’s fans were left outraged as they accused Goop Kitchen of ‘promoting a criminal.’

‘We are platforming the wrong people, folks,’ one frustrated follower wrote.

Another penned, ‘So this is… glamorizing crime.’

Several slammed Delvey’s involvement as ‘weird’ and ‘distasteful.’

Paltrow has yet to respond to the criticism but she did leave a comment under Goop Kitchen’s post, seemingly voicing her support for the ad.

‘[laughing-crying emoji] I can’t with you guys,’ the Oscar-winner wrote. She also notably ‘liked’ the post.

Delvey, who pretended to be a German heiress, was arrested in 2017 and found guilty of grand larceny, larceny in the second degree and theft of services in 2019.

The Russian native was sentenced to four to 12 years behind bars, and was released from prison in 2022 to house arrest.

She was originally banned from using social media, but that ban was lifted by a judge in August 2024.

Despite her criminal record, Delvey has continued to be a fixture in the pop culture sphere.

In 2024, Delvey appeared on Dancing With The Stars as a competitor after a judge allowed her to travel for the show.

She had on her court-mandated ankle monitor as she performed with partner Ezra Sosa.

However, she was eliminated early in the competition during the season’s second episode.

Paltrow’s controversial collaboration with Delvey comes amid a big push to promote Goop Kitchen after she opened a new location in New York City just weeks ago.

Paltrow entered the food and beverage industry in March 2021 with her chain of clean-eating restaurants, opening the first-ever Goop Kitchen in Santa Monica, California.

The fast-casual concept quickly expanded, growing to 14 locations across California.

And last month, a Goop Kitchen opened in Midtown West, with more to come in East Williamsburg and the Upper East Side.

Four additional locations are set to open by the end of the year.

Goop Kitchen’s East Coast expansion will operate exclusively through ‘ghost kitchens,’ meaning orders will be available for delivery only.

The chain also promises ‘100 percent recyclable’ packaging and a ‘commitment to responsible sourcing,’ including the use of local produce whenever possible.

However, the price point of Goop Kitchen may pose a barrier with roughly one in four New Yorkers living below the poverty line.

Standout menu items include a Chicken Caesar Wrap ($18), a Spring Salmon Bowl ($20), ‘GP’s Classic-ish Cobb’ ($18), and a $25 pepperoni pizza.

Goop Kitchen is an extension of Paltrow’s successful lifestyle brand Goop, which she launched in 2008 as a weekly newsletter
