Instant karma! Moment driver rams into two armed robbers trapping them under her vehicle

This is the moment a Jeep driver rams into two armed robbers trapping them beneath her vehicle after they tried to hold her up in the street.

The attempted robbery took place in Jardim Botanico, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the night of Tuesday October 21.

Video shows the Jeep driving onto the pavement and crushing the motorcycle the robbers were using before stopping with its wheel spinning over a flowerbed.

The two suspects were left pinned under the car until firefighters arrived and used a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle so they could be removed.

The pair were handcuffed while still trapped under the Jeep.

They were identified as Thiago Felix Vieira da Silva, aged 25, and Tiago Gabriel de Brito Oliveira, aged 18.

Police said the younger man already had three criminal records for homicide, illegal possession of a firearm, and resistance.

The two were taken in custody to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital for treatment and later transferred to the 15th Police Precinct in Gavea.

They were arrested for criminal association, attempted robbery, and vehicle tampering.

According to police, the driver, who was not named, was travelling with her son when two men on a motorcycle approached her vehicle and one of them struck her window with a gun while announcing a robbery.

She reacted by accelerating and ramming the motorcycle, causing the suspects to fall and become trapped.

Officers believe a third accomplice fled the scene with the weapon.

The tampered motorcycle was seized by police and found to have a fake licence plate.

The street was closed following the incident, causing long traffic jams before reopening once police had completed their investigation.

Investigations are ongoing to find and arrest the third suspect.

It comes after last year dramatic video footage captured the moment a man targeted by motorcycle muggers turned the tables during a street stickup – grabbing the gun and fatally shooting one of his would-be robbers.

The wild exchange, which left a 16-year-old dead, occurred in the southeastern Brazilian city of Guarulhos on the evening of August 4.

Surveillance footage shows Otávio Ribeiro saying goodbye to a coworker before leaving to walk home when a pair of motorcycle-riding suspects intercepts him.

Held at gunpoint, Ribeiro can be seen giving up his cell phone to the teen mugger before lunging forward and disarming the assailant while knocking him and his accomplice to the ground.

Ribeiro then fires multiple shots at the teen as he runs away, the footage shows. Ribeiro manages to fire on the teen’s accomplice, who can be seen picking up the motorcycle and speeding away.

The teen, who suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder and left arm, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The São Paulo State Military Police recovered Ribeiro’s cell phone and wallet, as well as two additional cell phones that had been stolen earlier in the night.

Ribeiro was later found at his home and told police that he fled the scene because he feared for his safety. He was taken to a local police station, where he was questioned and released.
