Cops have descended on gunman Shane Tamura’s home in Desert Shores, Nevada, where he reportedly lived with his parents.

Tamura was reportedly a promising football player in his youth in the area, with cops looking into whether he may have targeted the NFL headquarters in a revenge plot.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a press conference that Tamura drove his BMW from the home to Manhattan on Monday to carry out the shooting.

She said that the car had been detectged by license plate readers in Colorado on Saturday and then in New Jersey on Saturday around 4:30pm.

Sources told the Las Vegas Review Journal that Tamura was in Las Vegas as recently as March, and he had reportedly been working as a security guard in a Sin City casino.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement demanding that Congress pass a national assault weapons ban after a gunman carrying an M4 rifle killed four people in a Manhattan skyscraper.

‘Yesterday, New York lost four innocent lives in a horrific act of violence. Among them was NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, a 3 1/2-year veteran who leaves behind a wife eight months pregnant and two young sons. My heart is with his loved ones, his NYPD family and every victim of this tragedy,’ she said.

‘The killer used an AR-15–style assault rifle. The same weapon of war used in mass shootings across America.

‘New York has some of the strongest gun laws in the nation. We banned assault weapons. We strengthened our Red Flag Law. We closed dangerous loopholes. But our laws only go so far when an AR-15 can be obtained in a state with weak gun laws and brought into New York to commit mass murder.

‘The time to act is now. The American people are tired of thoughts and prayers. They deserve action. Congress must summon the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and finally pass a national assault weapons ban before more innocent lives are stolen.’

Investment firm Blackstone closed its Manhattan offices on Tuesday after a gunman killed four people at its headquarters at 345 Park Avenue, sources told the New York Times.

The company also has offices at 601 Lexington Avenue.

Wesley LePatner, a 43 year-old senior managing director at the investment giant, was among the vicitms.

‘We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue. Words cannot express the devastation we feel,’ the company said in a statement.

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo – who is now running for NYC mayor as an independent – posted on social media honoring the NYPD officer who was killed on Monday.

‘Officer Didarul Islam’s courage was as boundless as his love for this city. He gave his life protecting New Yorkers. A hero,’ he said.

‘We honor his sacrifice and the quiet bravery of every NYPD officer who stands the watch so we can live free.’

CTE is a degenerative brain disease that is caused by repeated hits to the head. Over time, these hits result in the accumulation of tau protein around the brain, which can lead to confusion, depression and eventually dementia.

There have been several retired football players who have come forward with brain diseases, many of whom attribute their condition to the game.

More than 1,800 former athletes and military veterans have pledged to donate their brains to the Concussion Legacy Foundation for CTE research.

CTE was usually associated with boxing before former NFL players began revealing their conditions.

Several notable players who committed suicide were posthumously diagnosed with the disease, such as Junior Seau and Aaron Hernandez.

Erin Burnett was blasted on social media for describing the gunman who killed four people in Midtown Manhattan as ‘possibly white’ despite surveillance footage showing he was not.

While discussing images of shooter Shane Tamura walking into the 345 Park Avenue skyscraper, Burnett said, ‘They do know what he looks like, male, possibly white, mustache, sunglasses.’

Former NFL player Terry Long was named in a suicide note by Shane Tamura, the gunman targeting NFL headquarters when he opened fire on Monday evening at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan.

Long was born in South Carolina and played at college level for the East Carolina Pirates from 1980 until 1983.

He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a guard throughout his seven-year career, which ended in 1991.

That year, he was suspended for violating the NFL’s steroid policy and attempted suicide.

Long died when he was 45 in June 2005, commiting suicide by drinking antifreeze, a revised 2006 death certificate said – a coroner initially ruled that he died of meningitis.

Long was found unresponsive at his home and died in hospital and was later diagnosed with CTE.

In the months before Long’s suicide, he was also facing legal issues.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the Midtown Manhattan gunman missed the NFL office, which investigators believe was his intended target, because he got on the wrong elevator.

‘From our preliminary investigation, he took the wrong elevator bank up to the NFL headquarters,’ Adams told CBS Mornings.

Tamura walked into the building around 6.30pm and opened fire, killing a police officer working a corporate security detail and then hitting a woman who tried to take cover as he sprayed the lobby with gunfire.

He then made his way to the elevator bank and shot a guard at a security desk, and shot another man in the lobby.

Tisch explained that Tamura then called for the elevator, which opened in the lobby.

‘A female exits that elevator and he allows her to walk past him unharmed,’ Tisch said.

Tamura took the elevator to the 33rd floor offices of the company that owned the building, Rudin Management, and shot and killed one person on that floor.

Tamura subsequently ended the massacre by taking his own life.

‘I have been briefed on the tragic shooting that took place in Manhattan, a place that I know and love,’ Trump wrote on social media Tuesday.

‘I trust our Law Enforcement Agencies to get to the bottom of why this crazed lunatic committed such a senseless act of violence.’

Craig Clementi was on the phone with other NFL employees when he was struck in the back with a bullet allegedly shot by Shane Tamura on Sunday evening, New York Times reporter Dianna Russini revealed on X.

Clementi, who just recently welcomed a new baby, was able to tell his colleagues to evacuate the building and to stay safe.

The new dad continued to make calls while he received medical attention and was taken to the hospital via ambulance, Russini said. He is in stable condition.

Mayor Eric Adams ordered all flags on city buildings to be lowered to half-staff to honor the victims of Monday’s mass shooting.

‘As a mark of respect for the memory of NYPD Officer Didarul Islam who died in the line of duty and the multiple victims of the mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan at 345 Park Avenue yesterday, I’ve ordered all flags on all city buildings and stationary flagstaffs throughout the five boroughs to be lowered to half-staff until further notice,’ he said.

Authorities say Shane Tamura traveled all the way from his home in Las Vegas in his black BMW, passing through Colorado on July 26 and making his way through New Jersey to Manhattan.

He was then caught on chilling surveillance footage wearing a sport coat and button-down shirt while carrying an M4 rifle into the building, which houses the headquarters for the NFL.

‘He then shoots a woman who took cover behind a pillar and proceeds through the lobby, spraying it with gunfire,’ she said.

‘He makes his way to the elevator bank where he shoots a security guard who was taking cover behind a security desk.’

Tisch explained that Tamura then called for the elevator which opened in the lobby.

‘A female exits that elevator and he allows her to walk past him unharmed,’ Tisch said.

The man then shot himself in the chest, the commissioner said.

Officer Didarul Islam, 36, was shot in the back and killed during Monday’s mass shooting.

The New York City Police Department paid tribute to the young cop in a social media post.

‘Police Officer Didarul Islam represented the very best of our department,’ the NYPD said on X.

‘He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today. We join in prayer during this time of incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.’

The man who unleashed chaos inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on Monday afternoon has been identified as Shane Devon Tamura, a 27-year-old licensed private investigator from Las Vegas who once dreamed of a life in football.

Authorities say Tamura, who had a ‘documented mental health history’, arrived in Manhattan by car on Monday afternoon following a mammoth cross-country trip.

Officials say he had no criminal background but his past raises haunting questions.

Tamura grew up in Hawaii and was immersed in a life dominated by sports.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said that the shooter may have intended to go to the NFL offices at 345 Park Avenue but ‘got off at the wrong floor.’

‘There are two different elevator banks,’ Adams said on Good Day New York.

‘Some banks don’t go to every floor. He appeared to have gone to the wrong bank, and he ended up on the floor of Rudin Management.’

A Blackstone executive was among those killed by gunman Shane Tamura, 27, in midtown Manhattan on Monday.

Tamura also shot dead an unnamed security guard who tried to take cover behind a security desk, as well as an unidentified woman who tried to hide behind a lobby pillar.

The Blackstone executive, who was named as Wesley LaPatner, was killed in the lobby, according to the Wall Street Journal which reported that other Blackstone employees are in the hospital receiving treatment.

The shooting took place at a skyscraper that is home to the headquarters of both the NFL and Blackstone, one of the world’s largest investment firms, as well as other tenants.

After spraying bullets in the lobby, the gunman took the elevator to the 33rd floor, where real-estate management firm Rudin Management is based, and killed another person before turning the gun on himself.

The Rudin family – a New York real estate dynasty – owns the building.

After the shooting, images emerged of Blackstone employees used desks and couches to barricade themselves inside to hide from the massacre.

Investigators said that it is possible gunman Shane Tamura, 27, was targeting the National Football League, which is located at 345 Park Avenue.

He was found with a letter on his body indicating he had grievances with the NFL and its handling of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after the rampage.

In the note he railed against the NFL and pleaded for his brain to be studied.

‘Terry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze,’ Tamura wrote, according to CNN. ‘You can’t go against the NFL, they’ll squash you.’

The shooter was referring to former Pittsburgh Steeler Terry Long, who committed suicide by drinking antifreeze in 2006 after suffering from CTE.

‘Study my brain please I’m sorry Tell Rick I’m sorry for everything,’ the note read.
